What a Felony Bail Bond Covers

A felony bail bond is a surety bond written for a felony charge in a California superior court. Instead of paying the full bail to the court, you pay a premium, and a surety company guarantees the rest. In return, the defendant agrees to attend every court date, and a co-signer agrees to back that promise.
Felony bail usually starts with the county’s bail schedule, the charge, and the defendant’s record. A judge can raise or lower it, add conditions, or deny bail in limited cases. We look at all of that with you before you commit, so the bond fits the case in front of you.

Large Felony Bonds, Collateral, and Co-Signers

Higher bail usually means the surety looks more closely at who signs and what backs the bond. Large felony bonds often call for one or more co-signers with steady income and local ties. Some also need collateral, such as a vehicle title, real estate, or other assets the surety accepts.
We tell you early what the surety may ask for and why. That gives your family time to gather pay stubs, ID, and property records before the paperwork is ready. Collateral is returned once the court exonerates the bond and you meet the agreement terms. Call our team to talk through the bail amount on your loved one’s case.

Bail Bond Services for Every Kind of Arrest

A felony charge isn’t the only reason families call us. Surety bail bonds are at the center of most cases we handle, and these related services cover other charges and court problems.

Misdemeanor Bail Bonds

A lower-level charge can still keep someone in custody overnight. Our misdemeanor bonds usually involve smaller bail and less paperwork. We also tell you if a citation release might apply instead.

Cash Bail

Cash bail means paying the full bail amount directly to the court or jail. On a felony, that amount can be very large. If the defendant attends every court date, the deposit is generally returned after the case ends.

Warrant Bail Bonds

An open warrant can turn a routine traffic stop into an arrest. Our warrant bonds help you plan a voluntary surrender with the bond ready. We check whether bail applies before you go in.

Bail Bond Reinstatement

A missed court date can bring a forfeiture notice and worry for every co-signer. We find out what the court still allows and explain the deadlines. Acting early can keep more options open.

Domestic Violence Bail Bonds

A domestic violence arrest often brings a protective order and strict contact limits. Our agents post these bonds and review the order’s terms with you. We help you plan a release address that follows those terms.

DUI Bail Bonds

A DUI arrest can leave a car impounded and a license at risk. We post DUI bonds for first-offense, repeat, and felony DUI charges. We also flag the separate deadline to request a DMV hearing.

Felony Drug Charge Bail Bonds

Drug sales, transportation, and possession for sale are usually charged as felonies in California. Bail on these charges can climb with the quantity involved or with prior drug convictions. Our agents confirm the bail and explain what the surety may need on a larger bond.
Some drug cases also come with conditions like drug testing or treatment requirements. A violation can lead to a new arrest and put the bond at risk. We go over those terms with the co-signer before release, so everyone knows the rules.

Why Families Choose Us for Felony Bonds

19+ Years of Experience

We have handled bail cases for more than 19 years, including large felony bonds.

Available 24/7

Our phones stay on nights, weekends, and holidays, so you can start the bond as soon as you hear about the arrest.

Felony Theft and Property Crime Bail Bonds

In California, theft of property worth more than $950 can be charged as grand theft, which may be a felony. Burglary, vehicle theft, and receiving stolen property can also bring felony charges. Bail usually depends on the charge, the value involved, and the defendant’s record.
We confirm the bail amount and explain the premium before you sign. If the court orders the defendant to stay away from a store or business, we point that out too. Following those terms helps protect the bond while the case moves forward.

Our Felony Bail Bond Process

Here is how we move a surety bond from your first call to the jail.

Check the Case

Share the defendant’s name, birth date, and jail. We confirm the charge, the bail amount, and whether any hold applies.

Review and Sign

We go over the premium, the indemnity agreement, co-signer duties, and any collateral. You can sign electronically or at our Yuba City office.

Post the Bond

We post the bond with the jail. The facility then completes its own release process, and timing varies.

Serious and Violent Felony Bail Bonds

Charges like robbery or assault with a deadly weapon often carry the highest bail amounts. For some serious or violent felonies, California law requires a hearing in open court before a judge sets bail above or below the schedule. That can mean waiting for a court date before a bond can be posted.
We tell you plainly whether the bond can move forward now or must wait. When bail is set, we explain the collateral and co-signer requirements that usually come with a large bond. Your family can then prepare paperwork while the court process plays out.

Felony Bail After a Bail Review Hearing

A defense attorney can ask a judge to review felony bail at arraignment or a later hearing. Under the California Supreme Court’s 2021 In re Humphrey ruling, judges must consider a person’s ability to pay when setting bail. The judge may lower bail, raise it, or add conditions such as travel limits or electronic monitoring.
Once the court sets the new amount, call us. We update the premium and paperwork, then post the bond at the new figure. If new conditions apply, we go over them with you before release.

Felony Bail Bond Questions We Hear Often

Not always. Most felony defendants in California have a right to bail, but a judge can deny it in limited cases involving serious violence or a substantial risk to public safety. A hold from probation, parole, or another agency can also keep someone in custody after bail is posted. We check for these issues before you pay anything.
Your premium follows the rate filed with the California Department of Insurance. It is commonly about 10% of the bail amount, so $50,000 bail usually means a premium near $5,000. Some people qualify for a lower filed rate. We give you the exact premium for your case before you sign. ue a bench warrant. The co-signer may then owe the full bail amount under the indemnity agreement, plus allowed costs. Bringing the defendant back to court quickly may open the door to reinstatement, depending on the court. Call us right away so we can explain your options.
Not always. The surety decides based on the bail amount, the charge, and the co-signer’s income and ties. Larger felony bonds are more likely to need collateral. We tell you up front if your case does and return it after the court exonerates the bond.
Often, yes. When bail is set on the county schedule at booking, we can post a bond before the first court date. Some charges require a judge’s review first. California generally requires arraignment within 48 hours of arrest, not counting weekends and holidays.
If prosecutors reduce the charge, the defense can ask the court to lower bail, and the premium may drop on a new bond. If the charges are dropped, the court exonerates the bond. The premium already paid is generally nonrefundable.
